Azul Beach Resort Negril Review
What did I love about my stay at Azul Beach Resort in Negril? So many things!
Before I start, if you aren’t big on reading and would rather listen, I posted a video on my Facebook and YouTube pages back in August that gave my review and shared basically the same information. Here it is!
Negril is about a 90 minute drive from Montego Bay, where Sangster International is located. The drive is right along the water and passes through some small towns on a 2 lane road. They also drive on the left in Jamaica since they were once a British island. I had private transportation and found the trip to be easy and enjoyable, even though we did experience some rain at times.
When I arrived at Azul Beach Resort Negril, I was immediately greeted and my suitcase was marked and kept secure until I was able to check in.
While I was waiting to check in, I was taken to a comfortable seat and brought a glass of cold rum punch. It was a lovely touch and speaks to the level of service given at this resort.
Check in was pretty easy overall and a bellman led me to my room. I ended up on the third floor, which meant some stairs. I didn’t mind, but if you or anyone in your group has mobility issues, it will be important to note that on your reservation because there are no elevators at this resort. It would be worth an upgrade to make sure you had a swim out room on the first floor if this is something you are concerned about, too.
My room had one king bed, but these same room set ups also come with two double beds that sleep up to 4 guests. First floor rooms are all swim out rooms at this resort and the buildings are set up so that every balcony has an oceanview (side note: an oceanview room at an all inclusive resort is NOT the same as an ocean front room. Ocean view means you can see some part of the water from some spot on your balcony.) This is not a usual feature for many resorts and I thought it was a lovely touch.
Another great feature is every building has access to a pool without having to walk far from your room, and there are towels available in several locations.
The food at this resort was all very good. I was able to eat at 2 of the main restaurants (and the ones that take reservations - you can make these upon arrival) and was able to experience food and service from almost all of the other spaces available. I didn’t have a bad meal, but I will be honest and tell you room service was not impressive and took a very long time to be delivered. You are better off going to one of the quick restaurants or make sure you plan on at least an hour or more for delivery even if they tell you it will be less. I also enjoyed the coffee shop and the ability to get iced coffee drinks and bottled water along with some sweet treats.
If you are looking for some extra relaxation, consider a visit to the spa or schedule a massage right on the beach. The space was lovely and the staff was friendly and welcoming.
There are also other fun activities available at this resort and there is nightly entertainment that varies depending on the evening.
We got to participate in a rum tasting, which you can schedule for an additional fee. It was very informative and I discovered that while I really enjoy mixed drinks with rum, I will pass on drinking it neat in the future.
What really makes this resort is the beach. If you love the sand, water, and sunsets, this is the resort for you. It was only a few steps from my room to the sand and the amount of chairs available were plentiful. 7 Mile Beach is well known for soft sand and beautiful sunsets and I was definitely not disappointed. I am ready to take my family back in 2024 and then my friends in 2025 when it becomes an adult only property.
What do you think your favorite part of Azul Beach Resort Negril would be? Food? Drinks? Sunsets? Beach? Tell me in the comments!
