Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Tips
Get ready for a spooktacular good time at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!
There are so many things to do and see at this party and it truly is not possible to get them all done in one night. Here are my tips for having the best time possible and making sure you get the experience you want.
Keep in mind most guests dress up, but it is not required! Don't stress about it unless you want to. I personally think it is fun, so you will see me in some sort of costume if I am there.
The NUMBER ONE thing is to decide what is most important to you to see/do during the party.
The main choices are: rides, special character meets, castle show, parade, trick or treating, special snacks, special merchandise, and fireworks. You will not be able to do everything fully, but you can sample a little of everything.
If character meet and greets are important to you, consider getting in line during one of the other events, like fireworks or the parade. The wait times are often lower. Or consider going at the end of the night.
It is easy to trick or treat in between everything! When you see a candy stop, hop in line! If the line is really long, it will move fast I promise. But you can always skip a long line and look for another stop. They all have the same candy available. You can go through these lines as many times as you want. If you plan on doing a lot of trick or treating, bring a separate (large) bag or empty backpack for your candy.
If rides are most important to you, it is my experience that you can do pretty much every ride in Magic Kingdom during the few hours you have for the party. They only have the regular queue open and the rides load much more quickly without having to share the line with the Lightning Lane guests.
Mickey's Boo to You Halloween Parade is a must see, in my opinion. If you care about your spot, I would recommend claiming a front row spot early. I love watching it on Main Street USA, but it is definitely the most popular spot to watch it. Frontierland is a solid viewing option location, too, and is sometimes easier to find a spot without having to wait as long. There are 2 opportunities to see the parade during the party.
The Hocus Pocus Stage Show in front of the castle is fun and worth watching! Try to get as close as possible for the best view of all the characters.
I do not personally love the Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks, but I think they are worth a viewing once, especially if you are a big fan of the Nightmare Before Christmas. The Jack Skellington puppet is impressive.
Check your app or look at the party guide they hand out in the parks for show times, special snack locations ($), and character locations.
Arrive early
If you are not already in Magic Kingdom or if you do not have a park hopper ticket, your party ticket allows you to enter Magic Kingdom at 4pm, even though the party doesn't officially start until 7pm. This allows you to access the regular park amenities without having to have a park ticket.
The queue to get in to the party at 4pm is usually pretty long, so prepare yourself for this. In my experience, the lines move pretty quickly so don't let this intimidate you.
If you can get into Magic Kingdom through the regular line, you can pick up your party bracelet at one of the stations located throughout the park. If you do this, I recommend going up to the front of the park and going through the special party entrance, which is the path between the Main Street Confectionary and Tony's Town Square Restaurant. It is clearly marked and only those with bracelets can get through. This is where you will get your candy bag and there are some special photo opportunities.
Guests without a party ticket are no longer able to enter ride queues at 6pm, so only guests with wristbands are allowed to ride. This is a great chance to get a few rides in before the rest of the party activities begin.
