Royalton Saint Lucia Review
The Royalton Saint Lucia is a beautiful resort in Cap Estate, Saint Lucia. What did I think of my short stay here? Let me tell you!
The Royalton Saint Lucia is approximately a 2 hour drive from Hewanorra International Airport. The airport is on the southern end of the island and this resort is on the northern part of the island. The road to get there is a bit hilly, but there are some beautiful scenes to look at as you make your way from one side to the other. You even pass through a rainforest!
The traffic in the capital city of Castries is the worst part of this drive. Hopefully you hit it at a better time than we did, but it was even busy on a Saturday. If you are someone who gets motion sickness, bring some meds for this drive. Don’t let it deter you, because it is totally worth it once you arrive! You do have an option of paying for a helicopter ride from the airport to Castries and this would save you some car time. It is about a 40 minute drive once you land in Castries.
There are several different room category options at this resort. I stayed in a Luxury Junior Suite with a king bed.
What I liked about this room was the open concept and large shower. The Royalton Dream bed was SO comfortable, too.
My room overlooked the pool area and while I could hear the music during the day, it never bothered me. I loved being able to see the water. The balcony was not huge, but it was nice enough to sit on in the evenings when it cooled down a bit (I visited in June, so it was pretty hot and humid).
I was also able to tour a family room at this resort which was also really nice because it has a sliding door between the bedroom/bathroom areas and the small living room area that offers a pull out couch. There were also some connecting rooms, one with a king bed on one side and 2 queen beds on the other if you want multiple bathrooms and larger beds for your family.
The food here was delicious. The buffet was huge and offered a large variety of selections. I had both breakfast and lunch and sampled many different items. We were able to visit two of the restaurants for dinner (Calypso, which is West Indies cuisine, and Dorado, which is a seafood restaurant reserved for Diamond Club guests only). I also had a table service breakfast our last morning at Grazie, which is an Italian restaurant for both lunch and dinner. I also enjoyed the offerings in the coffee shop and room service.
This is a solid choice for families since they have both a kids and teen club. There always seems to be something going on, but if you are looking for a bit less, you can find that, too. The spa is quiet (they have teen services!) and lovely and you can even get a good workout in the nice sized gym.
There is entertainment both during the day and in the evenings. We had a blast at the foam party in the main pool and enjoyed the music on the main stage in the evening. They have a variety of entertainment that changes nightly and you can see everything available to you on your room TV.
Would I stay here again? YES! I was immediately ready to book another trip and bring my family back. I think my teens would love the pool, food, and ability to hang out in the teen space. I would love to get out and explore some of the excursion options, too, especially the mud baths and maybe even a short hike on one of their well known trails.
I think the Royalton Saint Lucia would be a great group trip destination! If you want to have a slightly more kid free space, I highly suggest booking a room in the Hideaway section of the resort, which is an adults only building and has a pool and beach area exclusive to this room category.
Is Saint Lucia on your travel bucket list? If not, I think it should be! The sand, water, views, and things to do on the island are amazing. The people were so friendly and I felt safe the entire time I was there. It is well worth considering a stay here, especially at the Royalton Saint Lucia.
