Places to Visit in the Caribbean Without a Passport

Visiting a Caribbean island is often a bucket list item for many people. But what if you don’t have a valid passport? No worries! There are still several options you can explore!

Most people think of all inclusive resorts when they think of staying in the Caribbean, but if you don’t have a passport, these types of resorts are nearly impossible to find. This is where a regular resort comes in! You can usually find a place with a European plan (breakfast included) and then you can explore the town and eat locally, which is often a much better experience than the food you will find at an all inclusive resort.

Puerto Rico

This is a beautiful island with lots of history! You can visit Old San Juan, a rainforest, and the beach in one vacation. There are many places to stay within a short distance to the airport.

U.S. Virgin Islands

St. Thomas, St. John’s and St. Croix are some of the most beautiful islands and each one is unique. St. Thomas is known for shopping and vibrant nightlife, St. John’s is known for it’s natural beauty and pristine beaches, and St. Croix is more laid back with historical sites and activities like snorkeling.

Cruises

Many closed loop cruises starting in the United States do not require you to have a passport. You do need an original copy of your birth certificate instead, but as long as the island(s) you are visiting do not require a passport, you can still experience the beauty of the Caribbean!
