Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun Review

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a travel agent education trip as a precursor to the conference I attended in Cancun and we stayed 2 nights at the Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun. This is a family friendly property located about 20 minutes from the Cancun airport. Read on to see what I thought!

Arrival

Check in was a breeze, especially since we had been given Diamond Club rooms. There was a spacious lounge with food and beverages to enjoy while we waited for our rooms to be ready. Diamond Club is an upgrade you can purchase where you have access to this lounge, a pool, a restaurant, and will have dedicated butlers for your stay to help assist you with pretty much anything you need!

If you don’t upgrade you will check in at the regular front desk. This is where I will be on my next trip…I do love Diamond Club, but it definitely isn’t necessary to still enjoy your trip.

Food

I enjoyed the breakfast at Gourmet Marche (their buffet) and liked the variety of food you could choose from. There were several different spots that all had the same types of food so you didn’t have to wait in a long line and a lot of tables were available.

We got to experience two of the restaurants on property, Zen Teppenyaki and The Cave. The teppanyaki tables are the only ones you need a reservation for since the number of seats are limited, so if you want to eat here, make sure you get reservations as soon as you arrive! I enjoyed the food and the show and would recommend it.

The Cave is a beautiful restaurant that becomes a night club once dinner service is over. We got a sampling of their different dishes and everything was very good.

Dessert at The Cave

I did not order room service here so I can’t speak to that service, but I can say that even though the ordering screen said it could take up to 90 minutes for your food to be delivered, the people I was with who did order got it in much less time

Fun

For me, the biggest draw for families at this resort is the waterpark. There are several slides of varying styles and they look like so much fun! I can’t wait to take my family back to spend some time here.

The main pool is also fairly large and there is also a kids play area in addition to the bigger waterslides. I had a great view of this area from my balcony.

There is also a lazy river that takes you through the lobby, which is unique! When I sent a picture of it to my family, my oldest daughter responded immediately with “I want to go there!”

The Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun is an all inclusive resort, but there are a few things you would need to pay extra for to experience. One of these is the Game Up area, which has laser tag, bowling, and a trampoline area. It was really fun, but make sure you pack socks and closed toed shoes if you want to participate.

There is a large outdoor stage with nightly entertainment. I will say the one downfall to this is that I could hear everything going on from my room because the balcony windows are not very soundproof. Not a huge deal for me, but if you have small kids who may want to go to bed early, you will definitely want to pack a white noise machine (or download an app on your phone).

Accommodations

I thought the room was an excellent size and the layout worked well. I do not think my family of 4 will feel crowded at all when we go for our next vacation. I had a king bed in my room, but this same set up also comes with 2 double beds.

I liked the larger shower and private bathtub area in addition to having 2 sinks.

The Diamond Club rooms get some snacks and an upgraded minibar, as well as robes and slippers.

I also like that this property has elevators so you do not have to worry about taking 3 or more flights of stairs. I also like that you can get almost everywhere on the property under some kind of cover, so if it happens to be raining, you can get to dinner without getting wet. They do provide umbrellas (found in your closet) just in case!

Would I recommend this resort! YES! I am bringing my family back and I have several clients who are also booked here. I can’t wait to see what my daughters and husband think.

What part of this resort would you be the most excited about? Let me know in the comments!
